why we do it
We believe in the power of moving images to stir minds, move hearts and promote change. Our content is lean but rich, intimate yet universal, seeking out the unexpected and elevating local stories that resonate far beyond their borders.
Whether commissioned or self-initiated, every project we take on reflects our commitment to social justice, feminism, and the beauty of human complexity. We embrace humor, depth, and nuance.
how it came about
RebelMango was founded by Céline Stegmüller and Carlo Pisani in 2025 as an LLC. It crafts visual storytelling for multiple platforms, operating with the agility of a small team and the support of a global network.
The brand was first launched as the brainchild of Carlo Pisani and Andres Jud in 2011 and operated till 2014 with the collaboration of Ankita Makwana.
who we are
Carlo Pisani
was born in Bari, Italy, in 1978 and grew up in Mozambique, Italy, and Tanzania, following his parents, who are doctors. He completed his secondary education in the UK, where a passion for photography led him to explore filmmaking.
He made documentaries for NGOs in Angola, Tanzania, and Ethiopia, and graduated in Film Directing from Rome’s Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – Italy’s National film school – in 2006, winning the prestigious “Premio Solinas” screenwriting award.
After living in Berlin and working as editor on projects like the Emmy-winning “Strictly Bolshoi,” he directed the documentary LoveTrips (2011). From 2011 to 2014, he produced commercial content and co-produced documentaries.
For the past ten years, he has been a video journalist first and then Visual Storytelling Producer at SWI swissinfo.ch, earning third place at the 2020 Swiss Press Awards.
